Showcased recently at the Auto Epo 2025, the Avinya X Concept revealed Tata’s new-age premium EV ideology and vision. Ahead of its expected launch in 2026, Tata has filed a patent for the Avinya’s steering wheel design which is quite different from the familiar steering wheel design of Tata’s current lineup of cars.
So how is the steering wheel design different? And, what should we expect from the Avinya? Here’s a closer look at all the details:
The Avinya is likely to become the luxury EV brand of Tata, and will have a much more premium interior than what we get with the current Tata lineup in India. The patented design reveals a sporty-looking two-spoke steering wheel which looks sophisticated and plush. The centre portion features the Avinya lettering instead of the illuminated Tata logo that we get to see on popular models such as the Tata Nexon, Curvv, Harrier and Safari. The middle part will likely be finished in leather unlike the other Tata cars that get a gloss black panel in the middle.
The steering comprises physical buttons on both sides to control the various functions, including your audio controls, and several driving aids and features. Overall, Tata has taken a new approach with the design of the steering wheel to set it apart from the other models. Did you like the design? Let us know in the comments section.
The design of the second Avinya concept version, called Avinya X, was revealed at the Auto Expo, but don’t be surprised if the production-ready version looks similar. The Avinya will be based on a new electric-only platform, called Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA), which it will share with British marque JLR’s electric offerings.
The Avniya X previews a crossover SUV featuring a minimalist and clean design with plenty of gloss black elements. It featured aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels and a redesigned Tata logo in the form of a ‘T’ pattern making the front and rear light bars. To know more about the design details, head over to this story.
The interior has an upmarket feel to it and stands out from what there is on the current Tata models. It sports a beige interior theme which looks premium. As with most modern-age cars, the dashboard is dominated by large displays (infotainment and driver display). It also gets a large glass roof, which could be available as a panoramic glassroof in the production model.
The powertrain specifications have not been disclosed yet, however it is expected to have a claimed range of up to 600 km. It will possibly be offered with multiple battery packs and powertrain options to choose from.
The first of the Avinya models could probably arrive in 2026, and is expected to be priced at around Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
