Good news for Ola S1 and S1 Pro owners! Ola Electric recently announced its first software update since its launch in August 2021. The OTA (over-the-air) update is called MoveOS 2.0, and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has taken to Twitter to share what’s new.
The update will focus on improving the navigation user interface, the introduction of the ‘companion’ mobile app, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity and other performance features. As per his previous tweet, the update has been slated for the end of April 2022. While clarity on Ola meeting this deadline is still unclear, Bhavesh shared a video on Twitter of him using on-board navigation to locate an ice cream shop while emphasising on the UI’s seamless operation. While on-board navigation on the S1 and S1 Pro have been made available to a few customers in certain cities, this update looks to make the facility available to all owners across India.
The e-mobility space has played a pivotal role in shaping the tech we now expect as standard in our everyday lives. Ola electric has promised a full suite of services like Bluetooth connectivity, keyless operation, voice control, geo-fencing, anti-theft, and charging station locator. With almost all these features relying on smartphone connectivity, this update should give the user a deeper dive into what is essentially the future of mobility, the ‘electric life’. Software updates are great, radically altering our interaction with the hardware in question. Hopefully, the MoveOS 2.0 won’t be an exception. And I can only pray the update won’t take as annoyingly long as my IOS updates do!
