(UPDATE: The Ola Electric S1 has been launched in India at Rs 99,999 onwards. For bookings, availability, specifications and other details, read the launch story)

Bhavish Aggarwal, Co-founder of Ola Cabs, has shared the first image of Ola’s mega factory nearing completion of its first phase in just four months. The massive facility will soon start production of Ola’s first e-scooter. At this pace, the entire facility should be up and running in no time.

At full capacity, the factory will have 10 production lines, rolling out a new e-scooter every two seconds or 10 million scooters annually. It will have dedicated sections for battery assembly, paint shop, welding, general assembly, finished goods, and two supplier parks. Ola will also have its very own test track ready by 2022.

Everything seems to be going as per schedule, which means the scooter could be launched soon. In fact, the design team has already started picking out a colour palette for the e-scooter, implying it is inching closer to the official launch date.
Expect Ola to price the e-scooter competitively, around Rs 1 lakh, thanks to the new Fame-II incentives announced by the Centre. At this price, it should be able to put up a tough fight against the TVS iQube Electric, Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X, and the upcoming Simple Energy Mark 2.
