There seems to be more than just a cruiser in store for us

Royal Enfield telling us last year that it would launch a new bike every quarter for the next SEVEN YEARS was like a whole bunch of Christmases rolled into one. But once the euphoria subsided and began to be tempered by wonder, we started guessing what these 28 new bikes could be. The fire of our speculation is fueled by the steady stream of spy shots that keep emerging, the latest of which has just surfaced.

The video shows multiple test mules based on RE’s 650cc platform, with at least two different models on the road. The first is the well-documented ‘Cruiser 650,’ with a welcomingly low seat, forward-set footpegs and sleek twin exhaust pipes. But the video also shows another previously unseen 650cc model that’s built more along the lines of the Classic 350.

The rider seems to sit more on the bike than in it, with a taller seat, lower handlebars and mid-set footpegs. The riding position seems to be somewhere between a Classic 350 and a Meteor 350, and this bike also features blacked-out twin pea-shooter exhaust pipes.

So, is it possible that RE is working on a Classic 650 or a Meteor 650? Well, considering the cult following that both these nametags have, it would certainly make sense for RE to cash in on it. While the name may still be up for debate, what’s certain is that RE is definitely developing a second new 650cc model to go along with the cruiser. And the way things are looking, we could see both of them on the market before the year is up.
