Tata-owned British manufacturer Jaguar has received maximum safety ratings for the XE large family sedan and new XF executive sedan in the Euro NCAP safety test. This was the seventh Euro NCAP safety test carried out in the present year. Coming to the test results, the new XF achieved 92 per cent in overall adult occupant protection while child protection got 84 percent. For pedestrian safety the new XF received 80 per cent followed by 83 per cent for safety assists. The new XE, on the other hand, too scored 92 per cent for overall adult occupant safety with 82 per cent for child protection. Pedestrian safety received 81 per cent whereas safety assist received 82 per cent in the test carried out.
Compared to the current scores achieved, the new Jaguar XF has been able to add one star more to the four stars received in the last session of Euro NCAP test. The safety rating company recently mentioned the requirement of optional or standard self-governing emergency braking function for the car to receive a five star rating.

Kevin Stride, Vehicle line director, Jaguar XE, XF, F-PACE said, “The XE and XF were engineered without compromise: we placed just as much focus on safety as we did on dynamics, performance, refinement and efficiency, and our stringent in-house standards far exceed the requirements of legislative and consumer tests."
“Everything from the aluminium alloys we developed for the body structures to the state-of-the-art stereo camera at the heart of the Autonomous Emergency Braking system has been painstakingly optimised to deliver world-class levels of safety.” he further added.
Jaguar will be bringing both cars to the Indian market soon. The Jaguar XE big family sedan will compete with BMW 3-series and the Mercedes C-class, and will be the smallest offering from the carmaker. The new Jaguar XF executive sedan will continue to lock horns with the likes of the Audi A6, the Mercedes E-class and the BMW 5-series. The recent Euro NCAP tests - which consisted of around 15 cars - also included the India-bound Mercedes-Benz GLC, new BMW X1, new Audi A4 and Q7, Suzuki Virtara, and Skoda Superb among others.
