Skoda India has finally launched the much-anticipated Kodiaq RS at Rs 66.99 lakh (ex-showroom). A true family-friendly SUV, it blends in the elegance and practicality of the standard Kodiaq, with the sportiness and performance of a true ‘RS’ product. While we have already reviewed the SUV, here’s a recap of all its details:
The new Kodiaq RS is available in a single fully-loaded trim, with the price set at Rs 66.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Currently, Skoda is importing the SUV as a CBU (Completely Built-up Unit) with only 50 units in the first batch, all of which are already sold out.

In terms of styling, the Kodiaq RS carries forward the subtle and classy proportions of the standard Kodiaq, while adding sportier bits to distinguish itself. Up front, you have the familiar ‘butterfly’ grille, slim LED headlamps and a sculpted bonnet but the grille surround is now blacked-out and the bumper gets a sportier look.

Towards the side, the hunkered-down stance gives the SUV an estate-ish look, while elements like the 20-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, red brake calipers, side skirts and the blacked-out C-pillar insert keep the sporty theme going.

The rear-end styling features connected LED taillamps, a roof spoiler and ‘Skoda’ lettering on the tailgate. However, the restyled bumper now features a mesh-like trim along with dual exhausts. There is no chrome here, and even the badges have been blacked-out.

For India, Skoda offers 4 exterior shades for the SUV called Velvet Red, Magic Black, Steel Grey and Moon White.
Inside as well the Kodiaq RS remains familiar, yet fresh. The dashboard layout is identical to the standard Kodiaq, featuring a freestanding touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, rotary knobs for climate controls and slim AC vents. However, the RS features a sportier black and red theme with front sports seats to hold you tight in corners. You also have a new three-spoke steering wheel, while the 7-seater layout is retained.

There’s plenty of tech offered with the Kodiaq RS, including a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual wireless chargers, powered, ventilated and heated front seats, three-zone climate control, 13-speaker CANTON sound system, multi-colour ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.

It also gets safety features like 9 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, electronic stability control, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, hill hold assist and electronic differential lock. It has been rated 5-stars by Euro NCAP in the agency’s crash tests.
Powering the Kodiaq RS is a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. There is an all-wheel drive system as standard too, which helps it gain speed faster than its smaller, lower and lighter sibling, the Octavia RS. Here are the SUVs detailed specifications:

The Kodiaq RS has no direct rivals, although it can be seen as a more performance-focused option of the standard Kodiaq, and an alternative to the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line.
At Rs 66.99 lakh, the Kodiaq RS is not particularly affordable, and this sentiment grows when you consider its almost Rs 20 lakh premium over the standard top-of-the-line Kodiaq. However, it does offer a very well balanced package that combines the family-friendly and practicality of an SUV, with sportscar-like handling characteristics and a rewarding driving experience making sure that there’s nothing quite like it in this price range. What further boosts its appeal is its exclusivity with a limited 50 unit run, that may make it an elusive sight on our roads.
