  • New features to include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and voice command-based features.
  • Boot lamp and seat-back pocket (behind the co-driver) to be done away with in the base-spec E.
  • Mechanicals to remain unchanged.
  • Creta is currently priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

We have learnt that Hyundai is planning a slew of upgrades for the Creta. This development comes on the back of the launch of the 2021 Kia Seltos. However, changes to the Creta will probably not be as substantial as those of the new Seltos.

In fact, a few essential features have been scrapped from the entry-level E, including:

  • Electronically adjustable ORVMs (now replaced by manually adjustable units).

  • Turn indicators on the ORVMs (which will now move to the front fenders).

  • Boot lamp and seat-back pocket (the one behind the co-driver).

But other variants benefit from some new and useful additions, including:

  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the mid-spec EX and S.

  • Remote engine start-stop with the keyfob, new connected car tech, and soft paint finish on the dashboard in the SX and SX (O).

Speaking of connected car tech, Hyundai will introduce new OTA map updates, voice command-based features, and greeting messages. The last one will remind you of the older Scorpio as it greets and asks you to wear your seatbelt whenever you switch on the car. A few greetings are as follows:

  • Hi, Good morning. Have a super and awesome day, and don’t forget to wear a seatbelt.

  • Hi, Good afternoon. Have a wonderful day. Don’t forget to wear your seatbelt.

  • Hi, Good evening. Please wear your seatbelt and drive safely.

The updated Creta should go on sale in the coming weeks, with select variants likely to command a premium. Currently, the SUV is priced from Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in the same league as the Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV500, and the upcoming Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun.
