Honda Two Wheelers Crosses 35 Million Production Mark

One of India's biggest two-wheeler manufacturers, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, has announced that it has surpassed the production of 35 million units. The Japanese company was able to achieve this feat in 17 years, making it the fastest two-wheeler manufacturer in India to do so.

Speaking on the occasion, Minoru Kato, President and CEO, HMSI said, “Thanks to great support from customers in both India and 68 countries across the world, Honda 2Wheelers India is celebrating our 35 millionth two-wheeler landmark today. Taking forward this love and trust, we at Honda are committed to provide quality products and experiences that make customers’ lives more enjoyable.”

Elaborating on how Honda has changed the way India rides, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Since the very start in 2001, Honda Two Wheelers India has led with its challenging spirit. Our first model, a scooter (Activa) activated the slowing scooter market with its advanced features and fresh design and is now leading India’s scooterization as no. 1 selling two-wheeler of India.”

The company started its journey back in 2001 and took almost 11 years to reach the 10 million mark. However, it added 25 million more customers in just five and half years! The news doesn't come as a surprise considering the fact that the Honda Activa is the best-selling two-wheeler in India. To put things in perspective, a Honda Activa is sold every 5 seconds in the country. The Honda Grazia has also been a hit in the Indian scooter market, selling 15,000 units in just under 21 days of its launch.

Honda doesn’t intend to let go off the momentum and its pavilion at the Auto Expo was further testament to that. The manufacturer showcased 11 different models, which included the 2018 Honda Africa Twin, 2018 Honda CBR 250R, Honda Activa 5G, the 2018 Honda CB Shine SP and more. The company also unveiled the all-new Honda XBlade, which is set for a launch in the coming months.
