Not quite sold on Honda’s hot new ADV? Here are some similarly priced alternatives

Out of nowhere, Honda has unleashed the highly anticipated CB500X upon us. But at Rs 6.87 lakh, it's a quintessentially premium Honda price tag too. If you want to find out what else you can get for similar money, here are some similarly priced alternatives:

Kawasaki Versys 650

The X's most direct competition comes from fellow Japanese manufacturer Kawasaki and its Versys 650 adventure bike. At Rs 6.94 lakh, it is a bit more expensive than the Honda, but for that, you get a whole lot more displacement, power and torque, as well as a preload-adjustable upside-down fork.

Triumph Street Twin

If you're not stuck up on an ADV, a little more cash will get you the rather excellent Triumph Street Twin. It may be the entry point into the Bonneville range and the Triumph brand as a whole, but there's very little about this motorcycle that feels entry level. It's well built, powered by a delicious 900cc motor, and can be yours for Rs 7.45 lakh.

Kawasaki has its own take on the retro British twin, and it's called the W800. It might not be as well built or as pretty or as powerful as the Trumpet, but it is in some ways the more authentic British twin, thanks to a more faithful old school design approach. It's also more affordable than the 'Twin, at Rs 7.09 lakh

Kawasaki Ninja 650

If you're an enthusiast, the only sportsbike option in this price range is the Ninja 650. Mind you, there are worse bikes to be stuck with. In its BS6 iteration, the Ninja is an entertaining ride, while also looking mean and packing in a good chunk of features. It's also the most affordable bike on this list, at Rs 6.39 lakh, making it a rather attractive proposition.

Triumph Trident 660

At the moment, this is all that you can buy in this price range, but there's another very exciting option coming very soon. It’s called the Triumph Trident 660, and we expect it to slot in somewhere around here, and be the only triple-cylinder offering around the Rs 7 lakh mark
