Hero Cycles have launched a new electric e-bike under its Lectro range. Called the EHX20, the electric bicycle is priced at Rs 1.3 lakh. The Indian manufacturer has joined hands with Yamaha’s Smart Power Vehicle Business Unit in Japan to locally manufacture the e-bike in India.

The electric bicycle is equipped with a detachable battery and a mid-mounted motor, both of which are sourced from Yamaha. And if you are under the impression that the detachable battery is a heavy unit that will be quite cumbersome, you’d be wrong. Because the company claims that the battery weighs less than 2kg and can be charged in just 3 to 5 hours. It also has a claimed range of 80km.

Hero’s flagship electric bicycle, the EHX20, gets a digital display, which displays useful rider information such as range, battery percentage and different modes. In terms of cycle parts, it gets hydraulic disc brakes at both ends and a hydraulic suspension setup at the front. As of now, details about the electric bicycle are scarce, but we will update this story once we get the spec sheet from the company.
The manufacturer is claiming to sell 20 million bicycles by 2023 and 10 per cent of this would come from electric bicycles.
