Ferrari returns to Mumbai after enchanting India

Covering more than 13,000 km in over 70 days, the Ferrari Magic India Discovery finished its journey to Mumbai. The cars were received at the Gateway of India, close to the starting point of the drive, in a ceremonial flag-in event.

More than 50 journalists took turns behind the wheels of two Ferrari 612 Scaglietti cars, along 13 difficult stages spread across India, taking in 57 cities in the over 70-day tour. The two cars made their way across the entire country visiting Goa, Mysore, Vizag, Calcutta, Amritsar, New Delhi, Jaipur and many more cities before making their way back to Mumbai. This drive also proved that the extremely sporty Ferrari car can also run on normal roads in India with ease and the additional ride height enhancement that Ferrari carried out before the trip.

The 612 Scagliettis began their journey with just a few minimal modifications to ensure their safe passage through some particularly difficult stretches of terrain. The modifications involved the addition of a protective underbody made from 4 mm thick duralluminium rather than the usual plastic and the slight raising of the suspension to cope with tougher roads. Apart from this, the two 540bhp, V12-engined cars were 'normal'Ferraris. Both cars sported a six-speed F1 gearbox and transaxle transmission too.With the journey coming to an end, it is going to be a wait and watch scenario for Indian fans who are waiting for the famed prancing horse to be made available in India. If history is anything to go by, then it an eminent launch is around the corner, for Ferrari is known to do such drives prior to their launch in a particular country. China was witness to such a scenario not too long ago.
