The BMW 3 Series moniker has witnessed 50 years of its existence and to commemorate that, the Bavarians have introduced a special limited edition for two of its 3 Series bimmers: the 3 Series Long Wheelbase and the M340i. This special edition is called the ‘50 Jahre’ Edition, and will be exclusively available on the brand’s online shop with just 50 units up for grabs.
As a sweet keepsake, BMW is also gifting customers a 1:18 scale model of the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL. If you’re curious about what’s so special about this edition, we’ll talk about that next, but before that, let’s take a glance at their prices:
The BMW 3 Series LWB ‘50 Jahre’ Edition is priced at Rs 64 lakh (ex-showroom), which is Rs 1.4 lakh more than the regular model. Meanwhile, the BMW M340i 50 Jahre Edition costs Rs 76.90 lakh (ex-showroom), meaning you pay Rs 1 lakh more than the regular model.
Assembled in the automaker’s Chennai facility, the ‘50 Jahre’ edition of the two cars mostly carries cosmetic enhancements to set themselves apart from the regular versions. Both cars get a special laser-engraved ‘1/50’ badge on the B-pillar to remind you just how rare they are.

For the 3 Series LWB, the updates come in the form of the M High-Gloss Shadowline package, which blacks out the grille, window surrounds, diffuser and tailpipes. Inside, you now get carbon fibre trim along with a head-up display that features a 3D augmented navigation view.

The M340i ‘50 Jahre’ Edition gets more performance-inspired bits like unique ‘50 Jahre’ emblems on the front and rear, matching hubcaps, and blacked-out M fender and rear badging. On the inside, it adds M Performance door pins and even comes with a special M Performance key fob.

Under the hood, nothing changes with the 50 Jahre Editions. The 330Li M Sport continues with its 2-litre, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that makes 258 PS and 400 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic sending power to the rear wheels. It sprints from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.2 seconds.
The M340i, on the other hand, keeps its crown as the quickest locally built BMW with a 3-litre, six-cylinder turbo-petrol motor pushing out 374 PS and 500 Nm. With an all-wheel-drive system and an 8-speed automatic, it rockets from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds.
The 50 Jahre Editions have not changed what’s under the skin, but honestly, they didn’t need to. Both the 330Li and the M340i already nail their roles. What BMW has done here is add exclusivity and collector appeal, making these cars feel more special. And with just 50 units each, owning one is less about buying a car and more about being part of BMW’s 3 Series legacy.
