It’s the most no-frills Bentley model in the lineup

  • Revised 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine makes it more powerful than the standard model by 24PS.

  • A quicker 8-speed DCT helps it reach 0-100kmph in 3.6 seconds, 0.1 second faster.

  • A new electric all-wheel steering and a new electronic rear differential help improve its cornering prowess.

  • Exterior gets blacked-out bits, ‘Speed’ badging, and bespoke 22-inch alloy wheels.

  • Cabin receives a two-tone finish with Alcantara bits all over.

  • Unlikely to make it to India anytime soon.

Bentley has pulled out all the stops for the Continental GT with the debut of the Continental GT Speed. Staying true to its ‘Speed’ moniker, the carmaker has slapped on additional performance wizardry to what it claims is the spiciest Bentley model.

The biggest performance boost comes from a revised 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine that now delivers a beefy 659PS of power and 900Nm of torque, 24PS over the standard model. Combine this with a more responsive 8-speed DCT and it does the 0-100kmph sprint 0.1 second faster than the standard model, at 3.6 seconds. Its top speed is rated at 335kmph.

The uptick in performance doesn’t just come from a beefed up engine, but some suspension and steering enhancements too. One of them is a new electronic all-wheel steering.  At low speeds, the system turns the front and rear wheels in opposite directions and at high speeds, in the same direction.  Combined with  Bentley's Dynamic Ride 48v system that reduces body roll and a new electronic rear differential, the Continental GT Speed is an agile beast around a racetrack.

In terms of design, Bentley has tweaked the already muscular Continental GT with blacked-out bits on the grille, air intakes, and side sills. Aside from ‘Speed’ badging on the front fender, it gets a set of bespoke 22-inch alloy wheels that can be availed in a black finish. Even the cabin’s gotten slightly bolder with a two-tone finish and a mix of Alcantara in the upholstery.

At the moment, Bentley is unlikely to bring in the Continental GT Speed to India. In the meantime, the carmaker recently launched the facelifted Bentayga at Rs 4.10 crore.
