  • The MG3 hatchback rivals the Tata Tiago and Hyundai Santro.
  • It features single-din infotainment and climate control.
  • Powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine that develops 112PS and 150Nm.

MG Motor India has revealed the MG3 hatchback at Auto Expo 2020. Err… it’s not 3 hatchbacks, but the MG3, an entry-level hatchback, equivalent to the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios. MG could possibly launch this hatchback in the country after gauging customer response at the expo.

The MG3’s design is rather restrained. The simple front grille merges on to the large halogen headlamps. Below it are the bumpers, which come with a sleek airdam and LED DRLs. In profile, a prominent shoulder line runs through the side. The 3 sits on dual-tone alloy wheels. Moving on to the back, it comes with vertically stacked tail lamps.

Inside, the dashboard can be best considered basic in terms of design and features. Highlights include a single-din infotainment system, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs, and a multi-info display.

MG has stated that all its cars displayed at Auto Expo 2020 could be launched in India based on customer response. We can expect this entry-level hatchback to hit Indian showrooms in 2021. When launched, the MG3 will lock horns with the Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
