Volvo is among the silent yet underrated luxury cars available in India. Their sophisticated luxury usually comes out in the form of great comfort, features and, of course, safety. Volvo will be launching its new flagship electric SUV called the EX90, which will take on the likes of the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV.
Before the launch, we got to spend some time with the upcoming EX90 and here is what we loved about the upcoming Volvo flagship eSUV!
The EX90, in typical Volvo fashion, is a great-looking car. The attention to detail given while designing the car is evident. While not looking fancy, it carries a regal aura of simplicity and sophistication.

However, for some, it may look too simplistic given the price that it commands. This may be due to the fact that the fascia just includes the body coloured panel with the Volvo logo with the diagonal bar.

One of the highlights of the EX90 is the ‘Thor’s Hammer' DRLs, which open up to reveal the projector LED DRLs.
Being a luxury SUV at this price, you would expect great comfort. However, the comfort levels are commendable even in comparison to its peers in the segment. The seats are well bolstered with ventilation and massage functions.

Furthermore, the suspension characteristics of the EX90 impressed us on Indian roads. The icing on the cake is the adaptive suspension, which reads the road conditions and alters the stiffness. Hence, going through potholes and broken patches was controlled with comfort. On the contrary, highway manners are also mature and confidence-inspiring
Given that this is an EV, it has the typical EV characteristics. The performance on tap is plenty, and you can have fun with the instant acceleration. 462 PS of power and an abundant 670 Nm of torque can pull this 2.5-ton luxury SUV from 0-100 kph in 5.5 seconds.

While this is no sports car, this is more than what you’ll need for most driving occasions.
The Volvo EX90 packs in plenty of features, the prime of which is the large 14.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The system includes built-in Google, which means you can use Google Maps and Google Assistant without connecting your smartphone. The system is also paired with a 25-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system.

The EX90 also includes a 9-inch digital driver’s display, 4-zone climate control, panoramic glass roof with an electronic tint function, and a heads-up display with navigation function.
Let us remind you: we are talking about a Volvo. So you can be guaranteed that you’re getting one of the safest cars ever made. The designers of the 3-point seatbelt and curtain airbags have not taken any step back on safety.

The EX90 includes 9 airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rain-sensing wipers, auto parking assist, hill hold assist, an electric parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera.
The Volvo EX90 is among the most well-made luxury SUVs in its class. Some intangible features like safety, noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) and suspension quality are among the best in class. While Volvos are not designed to look flashy and immediately luxurious on the outside, the subtle sophistication has been the core of Volvo's DNA.
