To edge over the upcoming Dzire in the sub-4m sedan space, the new-gen Amaze is expected to bring in a set of creature comforts and added safety borrowed from the City.

The new-generation Honda Amaze has been teased with a design sketch, hinting at a production-ready model reveal by the end of this year. This Honda subcompact sedan could hit the Indian market in early 2025, adding some interesting competition to the currently dried up sedan segment on our shores. The Japanese marque has already seen success with its more premium City sedan, and it’s likely the new Amaze will inherit a few niceties from its bigger sibling to have an edge over its rivals.

In this article, we’ve outlined five features we expect the Amaze to adopt from the City. Let’s dive in:

Larger Infotainment Display

The second-gen Honda Amaze currently offers a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment display, which is smaller than its competitors like the Hyundai Aura, which features an 8-inch unit. The new-gen Amaze is expected to adopt the 8-inch touchscreen from the City, which might get Honda’s new user interface which we saw in the Elevate. Also, while it may be too optimistic to expect a 10.25-inch unit borrowed from the Elevate SUV, it would certainly give the Amaze a big edge over its rivals.

Semi-digital Drivers Display

The Amaze is also likely to say goodbye to its instrument cluster with analogue dials which could be replaced by a semi-digital if not fully digital unit, much like one of its direct rivals, the Hyundai Aura.

Single-pane Sunroof

It's no wonder that to stay relevant and up in the buyer’s wishlist, a sunroof is one of the most sought after features to have. With the new-gen Maruti Dzire confirmed to include a sunroof, we anticipate that Honda will respond by offering the new Amaze with a single-pane sunroof, similar to the one offered in the City.

Wireless Phone Charger

To enhance convenience for occupants, and reduce the clutter of wires in the centre console, a wireless phone charger is now a common feature in many vehicles. We expect the new-gen Amaze to include this feature, at least in top-spec trims, if not in the mid-spec variants.

6 Airbags As Standard

Since the Amaze hasn’t received a significant update since 2021, it’s due for an upgrade, especially regarding safety. With stricter safety regulations in place, the new Amaze is likely to be equipped with six airbags as standard, similar to the City and Elevate.

From the teased front fascia of the Amaze, it appears to feature a bolder design with a sharper nose compared to the outgoing model. The headlights are now sleeker, equipped with LED DRLs positioned above two blocky LED headlight elements. It is likely that the upcoming Amaze will retain its current 90 PS / 110 Nm 1.2-litre petrol engine paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. With this generational update, we anticipate Honda will increase the Amaze's prices, which currently range from ₹7.2 lakh to ₹9.96 lakh (ex-showroom).
