Nissan Leaf
The world’s top-selling electric car, Nissan Leaf could be the Japanese manufacturer’s first real throw of dice in India’s electric car market. Along with a generous range of 135km and a 30kWh Li-ion battery, the car also offers fairly roomy interiors with five seats and a decent acceleration. And like abroad, if Nissan manages to be aggressive with its pricing in India as well, it could translate its global success here too.

Hyundai Ioniq
There were recent reports of Hyundai laying out a grand electrification plan that involved launching of around 26 hybrid vehicles by the year 2020. And if that is the case, then the Korean carmaker will definitely not hold back to launch its electric sedan in one of its darling Indian market.
In terms of range, the Ioniq EV should be on a par with the Nissan Leaf at 30kWh; with Hyundai targeting an identical efficiency.
Kia Soul EV
Rumours about Kia’s entry to India were more or less confirmed last month and it is also to common knowledge that Hyundai’s electrification dreams also involve Kia. So the 27kWh Soul EV could be Kia’s flag bearer in the Indian hybrid/electric market.
First launched in 2014, the Soul EV boasts around 150km of total range with a funky design. It’s pricing has been a real winner overseas and Kia would now look to impress the Indian folks with a similar approach.

VW e-Golf
Volkswagen has been in the eye of the storm ever since the emissions scandal. Several cars were reported to be affected in India but the German manufacturer could push some water under the bridge by taking the electric route with the e-Golf. With a 135km range to go along with its comfortable driving and handling, the 30kWh car could impress many an enthusiast in the sub-continent as well.
Chevrolet Spark EV
The small car has been a big hit globally with its close-to-200km range from an 18.4kWh battery pack. General Motors has been somewhat unable to find its feet yet in the Indian markets and taking the electric route to the Indian customer’s heart could be considered as a viable alternative.
