Citroen India has launched the C3X as the new top-of-the-line variant in the C3's lineup. The MY25 C3 has also got a price cut of Rs 98,000 with the new entry-level price being Rs 5.25 lakh (ex-showroom). The C3X brings some new features, with the same mechanicals and some cosmetic tweaks here and there. So does the C3X increase the car’s appeal? We see that next.

The C3X gets Citroen’s familiar SUV-inspired stance with split LED DRLs, bold wheel arches and front/rear skid plates. The update brings LED projector headlamps, LED fog lamps, and LED DRLs as standard in higher trims.

It rides on 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and gets glossy black roof rails. At the rear, it sports sleek wraparound tail lamps, a sculpted tailgate with integrated spoiler, and a contrasting skid plate that gives it a rugged look.

Paint options now include five monotone shades: Polar White, Steel Grey, Cosmo Blue, Perla Nera Black, Garnet Red, and two dual-tone combinations: Cosmo Blue with a white roof and Garnet Red with a black roof.
The cabin gets plenty of soft-touch materials alongside a leatherette-wrapped dashboard on Shine trims, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a new 7-inch digital driver’s display. Other features include automatic climate control, an auto-dimming IRVM, a wireless phone charger, and rear USB Type-C fast charging ports.

Safety features in the Citroen C3X include up to six airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. Features like hill hold assist, 360-degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control are only offered with the top-spec Shine variants. However, the 360-degree camera can be fitted into the lower trims for an additional price of Rs 25,000.

The C3X is available with two petrol engines. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol produces 82 PS and 115 Nm, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox, delivering a claimed mileage of 19.3 kmpl. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol offers two choices: a 6-speed manual with 110 PS and 190 Nm, or a 6-speed torque converter automatic with 110 PS and 205 Nm. The turbo-petrol automatic can do 0-100 kmph in under 10 seconds and returns 18.3 kmpl.

An optional CNG kit is also available with the NA petrol, delivering 28.1 km/kg efficiency.
Under its new 2.0 strategy, Citroen is clearly trying to make its cars more appealing by packing in features that matter, and in the C3X, the 360-degree camera is especially useful in tight city spaces. However, it’s a feature that would have made an even stronger case had it been included as standard rather than an optional extra. To truly stand out, Citroen would benefit from extending more updates across its lineup, not just to its top trims.
