Citroen has rolled out the C3X as the newest range-topper in its C3 lineup, bringing a few cosmetic touches and added features. On the other side, is the Hyundai Exter that keeps drawing buyers with its micro-SUV stance and tech-heavy cabin. The question is, can the refreshed C3X with its better value proposition tip the scales against the Exter? Let’s break it down across pricing, features, and specs.

Rs 6.00 to Rs 10.51 lakh |
Priced between Rs 5.25 lakh and Rs 9.90 lakh, the Citroen C3X comes in lower, making it a more affordable choice. The Hyundai Exter, meanwhile, ranges from Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10.51 lakh (ex-showroom), stretching a bit higher at both ends of the spectrum.

Between the two, the C3X is the longer and wider car, which should mean more cabin room. The Exter, on the other hand, is taller by 45 mm compared to the C3X, though this figure includes its roof rails. The Citroen also has a longer wheelbase at 2540 mm, which could give passengers a bit more legroom.

Both the C3X and the Exter come with a well-equipped cabin. The C3X, however, offers a larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and even a 360-degree camera, features that the Exter misses out on.

On the flip side, the Exter gets an electric sunroof, which is not available on the C3X. In terms of safety, both get 6 airbags and also get additional features like a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Under the hood, the Citroen C3X comes with two petrol engine choices, a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated unit producing 82 PS and 115 Nm, and a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol making 110 PS and 205 Nm. The NA motor is paired with a 5-speed manual only, while the turbo unit can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The NA petrol engine can also be had with a CNG kit.

The Hyundai Exter, meanwhile, gets a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivering 83 PS and 114 Nm, along with a factory-fitted CNG option that reduces power output to 69 PS and 95.2 Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT for the petrol, while the CNG version is available only with a 5-speed manual.
The Citroen C3X edges ahead as the more compelling choice in this comparison. Thanks to its larger dimensions, turbo-petrol engine option, richer feature list, and lower price point. That said, the Exter holds its ground with a similar feature-packed interior, safety kit, and the added advantage of a sunroof, which the C3X misses out on.
