Mercedes-Benz India has launched the AMG G 63 Grand Edition on our shores at a whopping Rs 4 crore (ex-showroom). This particular edition is limited to only current Mercedes-Benz owners who own a Mercedes-Maybach, a Mercedes-AMG or the S-Class. Only 25 of the 1,000 limited units made globally will be available here. So if you had your eyes on one, we would advise you to be really quick.
How do you make the already grand G 63 grand-er? Well, Mercedes’ answer to this was to use plenty of “Kalhari Gold Magno” highlights. So the elements in the bumpers, all the logos around the car, and the 22-inch alloys are finished in gold. And the best part is that these bits stand out nicely in the Night Black Magno hue and look smashing!
The gold highlights are carried forward to the G’s exquisite cabin, where it can be found in the stitching and ‘AMG’ plaque on the seats. If that isn’t enough, you have ‘Grand Edition’ badging on the co-driver’s side of the dash and floor mats, once again finished in, you guessed it… gold.
One small bummer, though: this is a fixed configuration with very little customisation options.
So what if there are less customisation options. The heart of the matter is a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine belting out a whopping 585PS and 850Nm. Put your foot down and the G 63 shoots itself into the horizon with a naught to 100kmph time of 4.5 seconds. Top speed is capped at 220kmph.
The Mercedes-AMG G63 locks horns with the V8 version of the Land Rover Defender.
