The Invicto has been launched as the most expensive Maruti to be sold in India and here’s a detailed image gallery of the flagship MPV

Maruti has just launched the Invicto as its flagship MPV offering with prices starting from Rs 24.79 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the first vehicle from Toyota to be sold with a Maruti emblem, and just like your usual rebadged Maruti/Toyota offerings, this one too gets a few exclusive styling bits to differentiate it from its cousin. So here’s a 360-degree look at the new Maruti Invicto, the carmaker’s flagship MPV:

As with the Grand Vitara and Fronx, the Invicto features a chrome strip on the grille, connecting the two headlights. The LED DRLs get a tri-element Nexa signature element. The lower grille area gets a styling panel on the flanks, where you can also see the sleek horizontal LED indicators. You also get a chrome strip on the front lip, yet another Maruti’s design identity.

Viewed in profile, the Maruti Invicto looks exactly the same as the Innova Hycross. However, you get 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and beefed-up wheel arches. The sides, particularly towards the rear, feature strong creases, which add substance to its design.

The upright nature of the rear is visible below the raked rear windscreen. The LED taillights, connected via a chrome strip, look premium and get the tri-elements within them – another NEXA signature. The rear bumper design is simple and clean, with the Suzuki emblem in the middle of the tailgate.

Inside the Invicto, you get a layered dashboard with a cleanly laid out and rather thick central console, with the floating 10.1-inch touchscreen system above it. While its design is the same as the Hycross, here it’s finished in black with Champagne Gold surrounds.

The Invicto is available in 7- and 8-seater configurations, with the former getting captain seats for the middle row. However, the captain seat variants miss out on ottomans that add to the comfort factor. The boot space for the MPV is 239 litres with all seats up, and can be further expanded to up to 690 litres by folding down the seats.

There are four colour options available to spec the MPV in and they are: Mystic White, Nexa Blue, Majestic Silver, and Stellar Bronze.

In terms of features, it gets a panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree camera setup, a six-speaker sound system, ambient lighting, digital driver's display, dual-zone AC, ventilated front seats and a powered tailgate. You also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, cruise control, steering-mounted audio controls, and keyless entry with push-button start.

It gets an expansive safety kit comprising six airbags, ABS with EBD, an electronic parking brake, hill-hold assist, ISOFIX mounts, and a reversing camera. But it misses out on ADAS, which is offered with the Toyota.

Underneath the bonnet of the Maruti Invicto lies the Toyota-sourced 2-litre strong-hybrid powertrain putting out a combined 186PS and up to 206Nm. It is geared using an e-CVT transmission which transmits the power to the front wheels only. It has a claimed fuel efficiency of 23.24kmpl. The 2-litre naturally aspirated petrol unit has been skipped here.

Prices for the Maruti Invicto range between Rs 24.79 lakh and Rs 28.42 lakh (ex-showroom). Along with being a direct rival to the Toyota Innova Hycross, it is also a premium alternative to the Kia Carens, Mahindra Marazzo and Toyota Innova Crysta.
