After revealing its new flagship SUV last month, Volkswagen has finally launched its all-new SUV, the Tayron R-Line in India at a price of Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With a sophisticated design, enthusiast-focused character and a lot of practicality packed in, it will go up against some truly formidable rivals in its segment. But what is this SUV like? 2026 Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Price And Variants

Volkswagen has brought the Tayron to India in a single fully-loaded R-Line trim, which has been priced at Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, this SUV is locally assembled in India by importing it as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down unit), which has helped achieve a competitive price point:

Typical to Volkswagen, the Tayron R-Line carries a distinctly European flavour to its design language with a classy, yet sporty look that doesn’t shout. At the front, it gets slim and rounded-off headlamps with an illuminated VW logo and a connected light bar. Below, you also get to see an aggressive bumper with a massive air dam and aero cut-outs.

The side profile mirrors the overall subtle theme with an estate-ish shape, classy silver trim running above the window-line and 19-inch alloy wheels.

At the rear it bears a resemblance to its smaller sibling, the Tiguan R-Line with a connected taillamp cluster with an illuminated logo. Volkswagen has given a sporty touch here as well with a roof spoiler and an aggressive bumper.

Inside as well, the minimal theme continues with the large 15-inch touchscreen infotainment screen taking centre-stage. The high-quality characteristic about the interior is also enhanced by a clean centre console, as the gearshifter has been moved to a stalk on the steering column. 

Otherwise, it also gets an illuminated co-driver side dashboard insert to amp things up, along with an all-black upholstery for a sporty feel.

Volkswagen has loaded the Tayron R-Line with a long list of equipment including a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12-way powered, heated, ventilated and massaging seats, a 700W Harman Kardon sound system, panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, AR-based heads-up display, 30-colour ambient lighting and wireless charger. 

It also gets a ton of safety features including a Level 2 ADAS suite, 9 airbags, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assist, all-wheel disc brakes and a 360-degree camera. Notably, it has also scored 5-stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests.

2026 Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Powertrain

Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line gets powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine which is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
