After a teaser earlier this month, Volkswagen has now revealed the India-spec Tayron R-Line, along with confirming the boot space specifications and four key features that it will be offered with. What are these details? Here is a lowdown:
As part of its announcement for bringing the Tayron R-Line to India, Volkswagen has revealed that it will be equipped with a massive 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The second feature that it will get is 10-point massaging and ventilated front seats which will play a role in increasing the comfort factor. It will also be offered with a panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting as well to uplift the cabin ambience

Besides these features, Volkswagen has also revealed that the Tayron R-Line will offer a massive 850-litre boot space (with the third-row folded) giving it a significant advantage over some rivals.

Set to be the new flagship of Volkswagen in India, the Tayron R-Line is based on the same underpinnings as the Tiguan R-Line which was launched last year. With 7-seats in tow and a large size, it aims to cater to the family buyer and will go up against cars like the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner and the upcoming MG Majestor.

In terms of features, besides the confirmed ones above, it could get equipment such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control and a powered tailgate.

Safety-wise, globally it comes equipped with 9 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, electronic stability control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, tyre pressure monitoring system and all-wheel disc brakes.
Under the hood, the Tayron R-Line is likely to remain identical to the Tiguan R-Line which is powered by a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Here are this powertrain’s specifications:

While we await official confirmation, Volkswagen is expected to launch the Tayron R-Line on January 28. Given its positioning, it could start from a price of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tayron R-Line is all set to debut next month, and it will definitely add some freshness to the VW brand. However, the carmaker needs to be careful with the pricing as it faces some tough competition from established rivals in the segment.
