The festive season kicked off with a bang for Royal Enfield, as the iconic Indian motorcycle maker sold 1,24,328 units in September 2025 – the highest monthly sales in the company’s history. This marks an insane 43% increase over the same period last year, when 86,978 motorcycles were sold.
In our opinion, the biggest contributing factor could’ve been the new GST 2.0 norms that kicked in starting on September 22, 2025. These new rates have dropped prices of bikes under the 350cc engine capacity by quite a bit as the taxes went from 28% to 18%. Royal Enfield was already the highest seller in this space, and they’ve benefitted even more from this. Domestic sales accounted for 1,13,573 motorcycles, while exports reached 10,755 units, up from 7,653 last year.

Year-to-date numbers reinforce the upward trend, with 5,91,903 motorcycles sold from April to September 2025, a solid 30% increase over the same period last year. All existing and new models, from the retro Royal Enfield Classic 350 to the modern Royal Enfield Hunter, continue to attract riders. The launch of the updated Meteor 350 might have also played a role in the surge, as Royal Enfield not only reduced the prices of the Meteor 350 but also threw in a few new goodies as well.
B. Govindarajan, Managing Director (Eicher Motors), and Chief Executive Officer (Royal Enfield) said: “It has been an incredible start to the festive season for us at Royal Enfield, we have registered our best ever monthly sales volume and have crossed 1,00,000+ retail volumes for the month. To make sure that our customers take home their favourite Royal Enfield bike this festive season, we have put in considerable effort. In the month of September, we announced the upgraded Meteor 350 which has received a promising response from our community. All our new and existing motorcycles continue to perform well, we are confident of the growth momentum and are looking forward to a great year ahead.”

Sure, the 350cc range contributes to a major chunk of the overall sales. Even though Royal Enfield hasn’t given the exact numbers, we reckon there might’ve been a big jump in the sales of the 650cc bikes in September too, especially before 22nd. That’s because the prices of all the 650cc Royal Enfield bikes were going to increase as per the new GST 2.0 norms, so prospective customers might’ve preponed their purchases to take advantage of the lower taxes in the older GST structure.
