Indian teenage motorsports athlete Raheesh Khatri has signed with Wilson Racing team and becomes the first Indian rider to participate in the British Talent Cup championship. Raheesh has been riding since he was four years old and started his racing career when he was just six years old. With this, he earned the title of the youngest motocross racer in India. With many years of racing experience, he has now been selected to race in the 2024 season of the British Talent Cup (BTC).
With 39 years of experience in the racing scene, Wilson Racing team has recently announced that Raheesh will be joining their team for the 2024 season to participate in the BTC championship. This marks another milestone in Raheesh’s career and makes him the first Indian rider to participate in this championship alongside riders from the UK, USA, and New Zealand. The first round is scheduled to take place in Spain on 20 and 21 April, 2024, followed by seven rounds in the UK.
The bikes that are being used in this championship are the same ones used in the European Talent Cup and the Asia Cup; the Honda NSF250R. These race bikes have a 249cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder motor churning out an impressive 46.2PS at 13,000rpm and a peak torque of 28Nm at 10,500rpm. With a kerb weight of just 84kg, this gives the motorcycles an insane power-to-weight ratio.
Alongside the British Talent Cup championship, Raheesh will also compete in the Honda Racing India Talent Cup 2024 which consists of five rounds of racing. He plans on winning many more championships and is aiming to become the first Indian to participate in the Red Bull Rookies Cup. Ultimately, his dream is to participate in and win a MotoGP championship. We wish him the best of luck and hope to see him succeed in all of his future endeavours.
