Gurgaon-based EV manufacturer Okinawa has announced its partnership with Italian EV company Tacita. The new company will be based in India and the production is set to begin in 2023.
In this partnership, Okinawa will provide local development and handle the production line while Tacita will provide for the powertrain, motor, battery packs and the BMS (battery management system). The joint venture will be manufacturing electric scooters and electric motorcycles, for both, the domestic and international market. In 2023, the companies will launch an electric scooter, and, we quote “a high-end performance motorcycle”. The upcoming EVs will also have connected tech. The design, development and patenting along with the road tests (which will be done both in Italy and India) will be done from now till the first half of 2023.
