Amidst rising EV fire accidents taking place in the country, Okinawa Autotech has issued a recall of 3,215 units of its electric scooter, Praise Pro. The EV maker plans on checking and fixing any issues related to the battery pack on the e-scooters to avoid any further incidents taking place. Okinawa is the first EV manufacturer to have taken such initiative.
In a power pack health check up initiative by Okinawa, the auto manufacturer will be checking the battery packs for any loose connectors or any damage that might have taken place on the e-scooters. This will be done at the company dealerships across the country, completely free of cost.

This decision of recall has come into action after two of Okinawa’s e-scooters caught fire on two separate occasions and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) was asked to investigate the root cause of the EV fire incidents.
Apart from that, just a few weeks into summer and we have already witnessed an Ola S1 Pro catching fire in the outskirts of Pune, Pure EV EPluto 7G burning up in Chennai and 20 Jitendra EV e-scooters going up in flames, all events taking place in less than a month.
