Just a few days ahead of its launch, we now have an exclusive look at the 2025 MG Hector facelift, which has now been leaked suggesting that the first batch of the updated SUV has already started reaching dealerships. While not a thorough facelift, it still brings forth a slew of cosmetic changes, and possibly a new colour option as well.
Let’s take a look at what the pictures may suggest:
While we did have a fair idea about how the new grille could be like from MG’s teaser released earlier this week, we now get to see it in full display and how it looks in real life. Up front, the biggest change, and one which is very hard to ignore is the grille which now gets even larger. It also now sports a vertical honeycomb pattern with chrome inserts, as against the chrome studded grille available on the current Hector and Hector Plus.
Besides this, we can also see a reworked bumper which now gets a grey garnish over the lower air dam, although the headlamp cluster remains unchanged.

Other reports also suggest that with this facelift, MG will also add a new blue colour option to the colour palette of the Hector twins, while it will also get similar minor cosmetic tweaks in the form of a reworked taillamp cluster and rear bumper along with a new design for the alloy wheels.
In terms of the interior, it is expected to remain similar to the outgoing car, albeit with new upholstery and colour theme.
Talking of the equipment offered, the Hector facelift could get an upgraded touchscreen infotainment system of a larger size, compared to the 14-inch unit offered on the current car as an addition to its feature list which includes a panoramic sunroof, powered and ventilated front seats, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting and a wireless phone charger.

Safety-wise, it is expected to remain identical with features such as a Level 2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, 360 degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, all-wheel disc brakes, hill hold control, electronic parking brake with auto-hold and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
Under the hood, the facelifted Hector is likely to continue with the same powertrain options, which include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 2-litre diesel engines. While the diesel gets only a 6-speed manual transmission, the turbo-petrol can be had with both a 6-speed manual as well as CVT transmissions. Here are the detailed specifications:

The new Hector facelift is all set to be launched on December 15, 2025 alongside its 7-seater sibling, the Hector Plus . It is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh to Rs 21 lakh. It will rival other midsize SUVs like the Tata Harrier and Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, Jeep Compass and the upcoming Mahindra XUV 7XO.
MG has been consistent in giving Hector timely updates, and it remains a great package for the segment. However, lately sales have not been impressive and with almost 7 years to launch, it has started feeling a bit long in the tooth.
This facelift will do well to keep the Hector going on for some more time, but an all-new generation is needed soon.
