All Maruti cars from their premium Nexa outlet now come with 6 standard airbags, save for the Ignis, which will likely get the update soon!

Maruti Suzuki Fronx Now Available With Six Airbags As Standard, highlights

Just a few days after updating the Baleno, Maruti has now updated the Fronx with six airbags as standard fitment across all variants. Nothing comes for free, and with the update, Maruti has also increased the prices of the Fronx by a slight amount. Here’s a closer look at what the update could mean for you.

Maruti Fronx: What Are The Updates?

The Maruti Fronx is based on the Baleno, but is positioned above it, as it offers SUV styling, a more powerful engine option and a slightly tweaked interior. Earlier, only the Delta+ O, Zeta, and Alpha variants of the Fronx used to come with 6 airbags. The six airbags comprise dual front airbags, front side airbags and curtain airbags.

Most Fronx buyers go with the SUV’s less potent 1.2-litre petrol engine, but that engine is not offered with the higher-spec Zeta and Alpha variants, leaving buyers to opt for the Delta+ O if they want six airbags. With the update, buyers who want the NA engine will be okay to opt for the Delta+ trim, and save around Rs 15,000 (cost of upgrading to Delta+O). Customers would also get more value in the Sigma and Delta trims.

Talking about value, Maruti has increased the prices of the Fronx by 0.5 percent. So the current price range of Rs 7.55 lakh to Rs 13.04 lakh (ex-showroom) will go up by around Rs 4,000 to Rs 6,000, depending on the variant you opt for.

Other safety features available with the Fronx include ABS with EBD, ESC, rear parking sensors, hill hold assist, a 360-degree camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a rear wiper with washer.

Engine options include a 90 PS 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 100 PS 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. Both come with a standard 5-speed manual. You get a 5-speed AMT with the NA engine and a 6-speed AT with the turbo engine. You can also pick the CNG variants, available only with a manual gearbox.

ZigSays

The Baleno recently got a 4-star rating in the safety test, and the Fronx is likely to be on par or slightly better than the hatchback in terms of safety. Now with 6 airbags offered as standard, even the lower-spec variants of the Fronx feel more value-for-money. The good thing is that almost all Maruti cars are now being offered with 6 airbags as standard. With this update, recommending the lower-spec variants of the Fronx becomes easier.
