One car that has been doing the rounds as a test mule for a while now is Mahindra’s electric 7-seater, likely to be called the Mahindra XEV 7e. While its silhouette looks the same as the current-spec ICE-powered XUV700, there will be a lot that’s different between the two. And now according to our sources, it’s highly likely that we could see the new Mahindra XEV 7e by the end of 2025. Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming XEV 7e:
In terms of styling, the XEV 7e will have the same silhouette as the XUV700, but with significant changes to keep it in line with Mahindra’s other electric SUVs.
Based on leaked images, prototypes and test mule sightings, we can confirm that it will get a connected LED strip and a blanked off fascia for a minimalist look Towards the side, it will get flush door handles and new alloy wheels with aero covers. One can also expect some new and vibrant colour options to be introduced with the electric 7-seater. At the rear, one can expect it to come with new connected LED tail lamps and an illuminated logo.

The interior of the XEV 7e will share a lot of design elements with the XEV 9e. This means it will feature the new gloss black steering wheel with illuminated logo, three-screen setup comprising the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch infotainment system and a 12.3-inch entertainment screen for the co-driver as well.
One can also expect it to come with updated seats for more comfort, while the three-row layout will be retained. We expect it to come with both 6- and 7-seater options with the middle row likely to feature a sliding functionality (current XUV700 doesn’t get it) for more practicality.

Mahindra has always been known for setting the benchmark in features and the same is expected with the XEV 7e. Some of the expected equipment onboard include the aforementioned screens, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, panoramic sunroof / glassroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless smartphone chargers, drive modes, powered and ventilated front seats, multi-colour ambient lighting and an air purifier. In addition to that, it could also come with massaging front seats and cooled second row seats in the 6-seater version.
In terms of safety, it could come with 6 airbags (as standard), electronic stability control, hill start assist, electronic parking brake with auto hold, 360-degree camera and a Level 2 ADAS suite as well. If we go by Mahindra’s track record, theXEV 7e could get a 5-star score in the BNCAP crash test ratings too.

Under the hood, the XEV 7e is likely to carry forward the same powertrain setup as the BE6 and XEV 9e. This includes a choice of 59kWh and 79kWh battery packs with a rear-mounted electric motor. Here are the detailed specifications:

Furthermore, Mahindra could also offer a more powerful dual-motor setup in the XEV 7e.

We expect the Mahindra XEV 7e to sit in the Rs 20 lakh to Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) price bracket. That puts it in contention with the Tata Harrier EV and BYD Atto 3. However, given that none of its nearest rivals currently offer 7 seats, it could also be an alternative to the BYD eMAX 7 as well.
Ever since its launch, the XUV700 has been a crowd favourite for its design that stands the test of time well even today, long list of features and mature driving dynamics. And we expect the XEV 7e to take the game forward in its electric avatar electric SUV space with similar qualities and a longer features list. Being a Mahindra, we expect competitive pricing which will be the cherry on top of a well rounded package.
