Priced from Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom)
Mahindra has finally launched the XEV 9S at a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a major stride for the brand into the premium electric SUV space. The XEV 9S isn't just another addition to the EV lineup; it is Mahindra's most ambitious electric vehicle to date, designed as a large, family-friendly 7-seater with an evident focus on space, comfort, and modern features.

Positioning itself as India's first true 7-seater electric SUV, the XEV 9S sits at the top of Mahindra's electric lineup. It promises to offer the much-needed practicality for families day in and day out while still feeling premium and future-ready, without losing the rugged SUV character associated with Mahindra.
As of now, Mahindra has priced the XEV 9S,starting from Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Pack One Above 59kWh variant. The booking date has been set to January 14, 2026, with deliveries slated to begin January 23, 2026. Here is the detailed pricelist for all 6 variants:

As an electric SUV with 7 seats, it has no direct rivals, although it can be considered as an alternative to cars like the Tata Harrier EV and 7-seater electric MPVs like the BYD eMax 7 and Kia Carens Clavis EV.
The XEV 9S wears a bold, confident design that's modern without trying too hard. Upright body, wide of stance, and solid of road presence, it looks commanding. At the front, you get a blanked-off grille along with vertically-stacked LED headlamps and a connected LED strip, much like its sibling, the XEV 9e.

Towards the side, it gets a silhouette that reminds us of the XUV700 with muscular haunches and flush door handles, although being an EV, it also gets 19-inch aerodynamic alloys.

At the rear, it continues with a familiar look with LED 'boomerang'-shaped taillamps in a black casing along with a gloss black bumper insert at the bottom. Mahindra will be offering the XEV 9S in 6 colours: Stealth Black, Ruby Velvet, Everest White, Desert Myst, Midnight Black and Nebula Blue.

Inside, the XEV 9S feels like a luxurious lounge more than just another run-of-the-mill SUV. A three-screen layout dominates the dashboard; including a digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and another screen for the passenger entertainment display. This setup gives the cabin a sleek and modern look without making it feel overcomplicated.

Mahindra has kept things practical by retaining toggle-style switches for key controls, making the cabin easy to use without having to rely entirely on touchscreens. A 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, a 6-way power-adjustable front seats with memory, and even a panoramic glass roof go further in adding a premium feel to the cabin.

Equal attention has been paid to rear-seat comfort in the XEV 9S. It gets a rear entertainment screen holder for added convenience on longer journeys. There are dedicated AC vents, generous knee room, sunshades, and adjustable headrests for rear passengers as well.

Mahindra has given the XEV 9S a long list of equipment including dual-zone climate control, 6-way power adjustable and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, multi-colour ambient lighting, 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, ventilated second row, wireless charging, drive modes, powered tailgate and connected car tech.

In terms of safety, it is equipped with a Level 2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, AR heads-up display, electronic parking brake with auto-hold, hill hold assist, 360 degree camera, electronic stability control and front and rear parking sensors.

The XEV 9S has been launched with three battery options, which come paired to a single-motor setup. In the 59 kWh version, it makes 231 PS and 380 Nm, and a larger 79 kWh battery making 286 PS with the same 380 Nm of torque, which can achieve a top speed of 202 Kmph.

Mahindra claims a real-life range of up to 400 km for the 59kWh battery pack, up to 450 Km for the 70kWh battery pack, and up to 500 km for the 79kWh versions.

The Mahindra XEV 9S is a well-conceived evolution of the brand's electric ambitions, balancing luxury, practicality, and innovation in equal parts while making a strong case for electric family mobility in India. It shows that a 7-seater electric SUV can be both spacious and appealing, without forcing buyers to make any sort of compromise on comfort or everyday usability.
