Ahead of the upcoming Majestor’s unveiling later this month, MG has revealed the Rakan in Kuwait, which shows us some key details about what to expect from the SUV in India. So without further delay, let’s take a look at the Rakan and what they mean for the Indian market:
We already have a fair idea of what the Majestor could look like, from its showcase at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025, and the recent teasers and spyshots. That said, the Rakan looks largely similar to the Majestor from the outside. The front-end gets a large grille with a chunky skid plate. You also get to see vertically-stacked headlamps along with sleek DRL strips on the grille and on top.

From the side, you’d be hard-pressed to tell the Rakan apart from the Majestor with a different alloy wheel design being the only major change.

At the rear as well, barring the new badging and the absence of a ‘MAJESTOR’ logo on the tailgate, the Rakan remains largely unchanged with a connected LED taillamp cluster, dual chrome exhaust tips and a chunky skid plate.

Inside, the Rakan previews a multi-colour cabin theme with brown, white and black tones used throughout, although we expect MG to offer a different colour option for the Majestor in India. Besides this, we also get to a new dashboard layout, with boxy elements and a simple 3-spoke steering wheel.

Notably, the Rakan is available with a 7-seater layout as well, which could be carried over to the Majestor. It also gets a massive panoramic sunroof for an airy feeling inside.

While MG has not revealed much about the features of the Rakan, it has said that it will come equipped with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, powered front seats with massaging function, a 12-speaker JBL sound system and three-zone climate control in addition to the panoramic sunroof. The Indian Majestor could share all these features in addition to a few more, such as ventilated front and rear seats, multi-colour ambient lighting, multiple wireless chargers and a powered tailgate.

Safety-wise, the Majestor is likely to feature a Level 2 ADAS suite, 6 airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, 360-degree camera and front and rear parking sensors.
Under the hood, the Rakan is offered in Kuwait with a 2-litre turbo-diesel engine making 253 PS of power and 410 Nm of torque. However, the India-spec Majestor could be offered with a similar powertrain set as the Gloster, which includes 2-litre turbo-diesel and 2-litre twin-turbo diesel engines.
Here are the Gloster’s specifications:

MG will unveil the Majestor for India on February 12, with a launch expected soon after. It is likely to be priced around Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom).

When on sale, it will compete with cars like the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and the upcoming Volkswagen Tayron R-Line.
With the Rakan now unveiled, we are excited to see what MG has to offer in the Majestor. On paper, it looks like a well-capable and luxurious SUV, with dollops of power and a long list of features, but we will only be sure once the wraps are taken off it later this month. Till then, stay tuned to ZigWheels for more details as and when they are revealed.
