The electric vehicle market has grown tremendously in recent years, and is expected to grow multifold in the coming years. We already have a range of exciting EVs in the Indian market, but the good news is that there are many more upcoming models from renowned car manufacturers set to launch later this year. In this article, we are going to take you through 7 upcoming EVs, which are expected to hit the Indian roads in the remainder of 2024:

Tata Curvv EV

Expected price: Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom)

The Tata Curvv EV is one of the most anticipated launches of 2024. It is expected to carve a segment of its own thanks to its coupe styling and is likely to be launched in the second half of 2024. The Curvv EV will share interior bits and features from the Nexon EV and the Harrier SUV.

The features expected on the Curvv EV include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital 10.25-inch driver's display, a wireless phone charger, cruise control, and ventilated front seats. In terms of safety, it will likely get six airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control, and ADAS.

The Curvv EV is likely to be the second vehicle to be based on Tata’s new Acti.EV platform after the Punch EV. Powertrain details are unknown as of now, but we do expect a claimed range of up to 500 km. 

Tata Harrier EV

Expected price: Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) 

We have yet another Tata on the list, and this time it’s the all-electric iteration of the Harrier mid-size SUV. The Harrier EV is expected to sport a tweaked design to give it an unique look over the ICE model. It will pack ADAS features, while getting other features from the existing Harrier. We expect Tata to launch it towards the end of 2024. 

It should get a features list similar to the ICE model and offer a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone climate control, a wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and an air purifier. Safety is expected to be taken care of by 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and a 360-degree camera. It will also be getting a host of level-2 ADAS features. 

The Harrier EV’s specifications are scarce as of now. However, we do know that it will get a dual motor option for an all-wheel-drivetrain.

Expected price: Rs 1 crore (ex-showroom)

The Kia EV9 is the Korean carmaker’s upcoming full-size electric SUV, which is expected to be launched in India in the second half of 2024. The EV9 will be Kia’s most premium offering in the Indian market. It was recently spotted on our Indian roads, and you can head over to our story to take a look at it. 

The EV9’s features list in global markets includes a dual integrated 12.3-inch infotainment and driver's displays, 6 fast-charging USB ports, wireless phone charging, three-zone climate control, ambient lights, and electronic parking brake with auto hold. Its safety features include up to 8 airbags, a full suite of ADAS features, electronic stability control (ESC), ABS, and hill-assist control. 

It will likely come with multiple battery packs, with the option of choosing between single and double electric motors. The rear-wheel-drive setup includes the option of a 76.1 kWh battery pack and a 99.8 kWh battery pack. Both the battery packs are paired with a single motor. Mahindra XUV.e8

The Mahindra XUV.e8 is an all-electric version of the popular XUV700 mid-size SUV. It will get a tweaked exterior styling from the XUV700 to stand out. Even the interior will have changes with a new third display screen, which was spotted in the patented dashboard layout. Out of the five new EV concepts by Mahindra, the XUV.e8 will be the first one to go on sale by the end of 2024. 

In terms of features, it should come equipped with all the features that the XUV700 comes equipped with. The list includes a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated front seats, a dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, cruise control, keyless entry with push-button start, and ambient lighting. Safety features will include seven airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and it will also come with a host of ADAS features. 

The XUV.e8 will be based on Mahindra’s innovative INGLO platform and is expected to accommodate batteries with capacities of 60 and 80 kWh. Expect both single motor and dual motor options to be on offer.

Skoda Enyaq iV

Expected price: Rs 65 lakh (ex-showroom)

Skoda had showcased the Enyaq iV at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2024. The Czech carmaker will bring in the Enyaq iV by the end of 2024, and it will directly rival the Volvo XC40 Recharge. The Enyaq will feature an illuminated butterfly grille upfront and since it is an electric crossover, it will get a sloping roofline. The Enyaq will be brought in as a fully imported model, so it’s safe to say it won’t be cheap. 

The Enyaq iV is a premium offering, and will get all the latest features which you expect from other premium Skoda cars like  a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto/ Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, ambient lighting, multi-zone climate control system, 12V power socket, powered and heated front seats, and wireless phone charging. Its safety kit includes up to nine airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and a suite of ADAS features. 

The model showcased in India was the ‘85’ variant, which comes with the larger 82 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor which produces 285 PS and 545 Nm. Power is sent to the rear wheels only and has a WLTP-claimed range of 560 km. Globally, it also gets a dual-motor with all-wheel drive system and a more powerful RS version. 

A Couple Of Luxury EVs

Alongside the many mass market EVs that are coming up, we also expect luxury car brands like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Volvo and Land Rover to bring in more products to the EV market, announcements for which will be made closer to launch.
