Honda has launched the CB300F Flex-Fuel bike in India with a price tag of Rs 1,70,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi). It gets two colour options: Sports Red and Mat Axis Grey Metallic. Bookings are now open for the bike and it’ll be available at Honda BigWing dealerships from the last week of October.
In terms of styling, the Flex-Fuel bike looks identical to the regular CB300F – sharp LED headlight design and the muscular fuel tank with the extensions. The CB300F Flex-Fuel bike is powered by a 293.52cc, single-cylinder engine producing 24.8PS and 25.9Nm and the motor is compliant with up to E85 fuel (which is 85% ethanol and 15% petrol). The engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.
At the front, the bike gets a gold-coloured inverted fork and at the rear, it gets a monoshock with 5-step preload adjustability. The braking setup consists of a 276mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc brake with dual-channel ABS as standard. In the features department, the Flex-Fuel bike gets all-LED lighting and an LCD instrument console that shows speedometer, odometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, trip meter, clock and gear position indicator readouts. It also has an “Intelligent Ethanol Indicator” which glows whenever the bike is filled with fuel that has more than 85% ethanol content.
Bajaj Auto launched the world’s first CNG bike a few months ago with the Freedom 125 and now Honda has launched the CB300F Flex-Fuel bike, which goes to show the interest of two-wheelers running on alternate sources of energy other than petrol and electricity in the Indian market. There have been reports of other manufacturers being interested in launching vehicles of this nature and as such, it looks like we are about to have an interesting mix of two-wheelers in the near future.
