Features elevate the overall experience of a car, and automakers have been adding more and more of them, even in their entry-level cars. The Skoda Kylaq and Mahindra XUV 3XO are both well-equipped subcompact SUVs that take care of all your basic needs and requirements. However, it is the XUV 3XO which offers some extra feel-good features which add to the premium experience. In this report, we take you through the 7 extra convenience and safety features it gets over the Kylaq:
Large screens are the trend, and Mahindra has followed the same with its subcompact SUV. It gets a 10.25-inch digital driver display, which is larger than the 8-inch unit offered with the Kylaq. However, the sizes of their touchscreen infotainment system are similar (around 10 inches).
The Mahindra XUV 3XO was the first in the segment to introduce the panoramic sunroof feature, which was then followed by Tata replacing the Nexon’s regular sunroof with a panoramic unit. The Kylaq, on the other hand, gets a single-pane sunroof. The panoramic sunroof on the XUV 3XO allows more light to enter the cabin, giving it an airy feeling.
The Kylaq gets a single-zone automatic climate control, while the XUV 3XO comes with a dual-zone climate control. What this does is that it gives the occupants the freedom to set the temperature according to their own preference.
The Kylaq comes equipped with a 6-speaker audio system, which does the job of providing a decent sound experience. However, the XUV 3XO offers a more superior sound system consisting of 7 Harman Kardon speakers. So, if you are someone who loves to listen to music while traveling, you might prefer the XUV 3XO.
While ADAS features are still not completely ideal or suited for Indian driving conditions, they do sometimes take care of the driver’s mistake and add an extra layer of safety. The Mahindra XUV 3XO comes equipped with level-2 ADAS featuring lane keep assist, auto emergency braking and lane departure warning. The Kylaq does not get any driver aids.
While some of the other features on the list are okay to not have, the 360-degree camera is certainly a feature that is important and makes living with a car more easy. The XUV 3XO gets this necessary equipment, while the Kylaq only gets a reverse parking camera. Both SUVs also get reverse parking sensors to assist the driver while parking.
The electronic parking brake with auto hold function is not as important as some of the other features on the list, but it surely adds a layer of convenience and looks modern. The XUV 3XO comes with this feature, while the Kylaq gets a manual handbrake lever.
The Skoda Kylaq is priced from Rs 7.89 lakh to Rs 14.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV 3XO’s prices range between Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 15.56 lakh (ex-showroom). For a detailed comparison of these two cars, head over to this story.
The Mahindra XUV 3XO, with its comprehensive feature package, is among the best in the segment in terms of amenities. The Kylaq ticks most of the boxes but misses out on some of the necessary as well as fancy features which would have made the Skoda SUV much more desirable. Which feature did you like the most?
