At the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, Tata Motors had showcased the near-production Sierra concept amid much fanfare and interest and now, according to our sources, it is gearing up to launch its most-awaited compact SUV later this year. Here is everything we know about the Sierra and what it is expected to be like:
In terms of the exterior styling, the EV and IC versions will have slightly different styling elements, although both are expected to largely share the same body shell. Going by the internal-combustion concept shown by Tata at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo, it will get a squared-off stance. At the front, the car gets a black strip which encompasses the headlamps, grille and a black glossy insert.
The side profile, though futuristic, also uses a part-black roof to mimic the ‘infinity’ window style of the old Sierra. The rear end gets an almost-vertical profile with a minimalistic design and connected taillamps.
As for the EV, it will get a slightly different front end with a faux grille and a new bumper with a different design for the alloys and slight revisions for the rear end.

Inside the Sierra is a tri-screen setup taking the centre stage, which will serve as the digital instrument cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and a secondary touchscreen for the co-driver. From what we can see, it will also get body-coloured elements inside for a premium feel. Just like other Tatas, it also gets a gloss black steering wheel with an illuminated logo for a futuristic touch.
At the rear, the Sierra is expected to offer bench seats with adjustable headrests for all passengers. It is likely to be a 5-seater only and is not expected to offer a third row. The concept showcased earlier this year also featured a black interior theme, and it remains to be seen if the same will continue in the production versions.

In terms of the equipment list, the Sierra is expected to get cutting-edge technology. This includes the aforementioned three-screen setup with a digital gauge cluster, touchscreen infotainment system and a secondary infotainment system for the co-driver as well. Other features in the 2026 Sierra could include panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated front and rear seats, wireless smartphone chargers, ambient lighting and air purifier.
In terms of safety, it is expected to get 7 airbags, a Level 2 ADAS suite, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
Under the hood, the Sierra would be getting 2-litre diesel, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and EV powertrains. The 2-litre diesel shared with the larger Harrier and Safari is likely to be offered in the same 170 PS tune with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission options.
On the other hand, the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol would be a brand-new engine with a power output in the range of 150-170 PS and will be paired to manual and automatic transmissions as well. As for the Sierra EV, details are currently not known, but expect a claimed range figure of 450-500km on a single charge.

Tata has not revealed an exact launch date, although we expect the Sierra to launch in the first quarter of 2026. The petrol and diesel Sierra will be launched first, with the EV launch following soon after.
The petrol and diesel versions of the Sierra are expected to be priced in the Rs 12-20 lakh (ex-showroom)range and will plug a large gap in Tata Motors’ portfolio to go up against other compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Victoris, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate and Volkswagen Taigun or even its own sibling, the Tata Curvv.
The Sierra EV, on the other hand, is expected to be priced in the Rs 15-25 lakh (ex-showroom) range and will compete with its sibling, the Tata Curvv EV, the Hyundai Creta Electric, and the Mahindra BE6.
