Quick News Highlights:
2025 Honda CBR250RR launched in Japan with two new colour options: Pearl Glare White and Matte Bullet Silver. Both these colours are available alongside the iconic Honda Grand Prix Red paint scheme. It continues with the same sharp and aggressive design as before.
The Pearl Glare White paint scheme, on the 2025 Honda CBR250RR, has a glossy white base colour along with purple and red graphics. This colour scheme brings back the nostalgic Honda VFR vibes to the CBR250RR. The Matte Bullet Silver features a Matte Grey base colour. It is complemented by blue and silver graphics that look cool and calm. The iconic Honda Grand Prix Red is inspired by MotoGP Honda bikes. It has a red base colour, along with blue and white graphics.
Moreover, the Matte Bullet Silver is available in Japan at JPY 902,000 (equivalent to Rs 5.34 lakh), whereas the Pearl Glare White and Grand Prix Red are priced at JPY 940,500 (equivalent to Rs 5.57 lakh).
The Honda CBR250RR is powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine which produces a peak output of 42PS at 13,500rpm and 25Nm at 10,750rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch and bidirectional quickshifter.
The 250cc Japanese bike has an all-LED lighting setup with LED DRLs (daytime running lights). It gets a fully LCD instrument console that shows speedometer, odometer, tachometer, gear position, two trip meters, a clock, a fuel consumption meter, coolant temperature, and other telltale lights. The bike also has 3 ride modes.
The Honda CBR250RR is equipped with a golden-coloured Showa SFF-BP fork and a 5-step preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Braking is handled by a 310mm front petal disc and a 240mm petal disc at the rear, with dual channel ABS. The bike has a 17-inch alloy wheel, wrapped with 110-section front and 140-section rear tyres. The bike has a 168kg kerb weight and a 14.5-litre fuel tank capacity.
Indians equate value-for-money with displacement. A high-cost low-displacement will be extremely niche especially considering there are cheaper options that make more power than this CBR. It was patented in India but it's mostly to secure the rights. The CBR250RR is essentially for developed markets that appreciate such a niche segment (case in point, Japan) and also for places where there are taxation restrictions for higher capacity bikes (case in point, Indonesia).
Honda's history of two-wheeler launches in India so far has reinforced the fact that the brand is quite risk averse. Which is why it doesn't make sense to bring this CBR to India, even as an import in small quantities. If you want the thrill of a small-capacity multi-cylinder sportbike, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R is the is the only option. That said, there are other, more affordable twin-cylinder bikes like the Yamaha R3, Aprilia RS 457, and the Kawasaki Ninja 500 that you can check out.
