The MG Windsor EV has already reached dealerships after being launched just recently, with prices ranging between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 15.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for its three variants. You can buy the EV with or without the battery pack, the latter being part of an innovative ‘Battery-as-a-Service’ (BaaS) program, which lets you rent the usage for battery.
So depending on the financier, you’ll have to pay a EMI on the battery, which helps you acquire the car at a much affordable price. Test drives for the MG Windsor EV are set to start on September 25, bookings will begin on October 3 and you can bring it home from October 12 onwards.
Here’s an overview of the Windsor EV:
While the Windsor might be the size of a regular compact SUV like the Creta or Seltos, its shape is unique to those conventional SUVs. It looks like a crossover with its rounded silhouette and has a very minimalistic overall styling quotient, and the same treatment can also be seen inside the Windsor EV.
A flat dashboard is dominated by a huge TV-like 15.6-inch infotainment system that takes up most of the real estate, while you get quilted leatherette seats in the top-spec variant for a premium feel.
The theme is all-black, contrasted with golden inserts all around the cabin, and the well executed multi-colour ambient lighting further adds colour and vibes (at night) to the cabin. You can check out more exterior and design details of the Windsor in this image gallery.
There’s no scarcity of features as the list includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, automatic climate control, a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front row seats, a wireless phone charger and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system.

Beyond the usual set of features and technology, the cabin’s piece de resistance is its 135-degree reclining seats, which gives you a lounge-like seating area to relax in.
In terms of safety features, it gets six airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors with a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control and an electronic parking brake.
Coming to the powertrain of the Windsor EV, there’s only a single 38 kWh battery pack on offer, which is paired with a 136 PS e-motor.
This setup delivers a claimed range of 331 km and the battery boasts a maximum DC fast charging capacity of up to 45 kW. There are 3.3kW and 7.4 kW charger options available for home charging.
Given its price, the Windsor EV locks horns with the Tata Punch EV.
But considering its size and specifications, it goes up in the same space as the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV400 and even the Tata Curvv EV.
