The carmaker also debuted the Vision 7S Concept SUV which showcases its design direction for the future

  • New logo is a Skoda wordmark which will be used in future models.

  • The wordmark logo will also be used more widely than the picture mark winged arrow logo.

  • Skoda has also revamped the picture mark logo which now gets a 2D appearance.

  • Skoda has showcased its design direction with the Vision 7S Concept SUV.

  • The Vision 7S is a three-row SUV with a claimed range of over 600Km.

We were expecting Skoda to unveil the Vision 7S concept SUV which the brand has been teasing for the last couple of weeks. It did unveil the three-row all-electric SUV, but the brand has also completely revamped its identity by introducing an all-new logo and a modified version of the existing logo. It has also revealed its electrification plans and a new design language which debuts with the Vision 7S.

New wordmark logo and 2D appearance

The all-new logo is now a wordmark of the brand which reads ‘Skoda’ in a new bespoke font. Skoda says the new word logo will be present in future models from the brand instead of the existing winged arrow logo. Interestingly, designers have also incorporated the caron ‘S’ in the new logo which is present to signify that the ‘S’ in Skoda is pronounced differently. In case you are curious, it is pronounced ‘Shkoda’ in Czech.

Following Volkswagen's footsteps, Skoda has gone for a new 2D look for its classic winged arrow picture logo. It now features a flat look, more in line with the current trend of switching from print to online for all marketing activities.

As the name suggests, the Vision 7S is an all-electric 7-seater SUV that also showcases the Czech brand’s novel design aspirations. Based on the VW Group’s MEB platform the SUV features an 89kWh battery pack which supports up to 200kW fast charging.

What’s impressive though is Skoda’s claim of a 600km-plus range in one full charge along with the practicality that the SUV offers in terms of cabin space and flexibility.

Skoda’s new design language debuts with the Vision 7S, called ‘Modern Solid’, and we can see that from the new front-end which is called the Tech Deck face. Finished in an Explorer Green shade, the SUV looks butch but at the same time features a sloping roofline for aerodynamic benefits. Other design highlights include a  new flat ‘grille’ design, T-shaped headlights and taillights, a rugged front bumper with seven vertical slats, wing mirrors with cameras and flush door handles.

The cabin is where the 7S shines in terms of design innovation. Apart from the unique 7-seater layout that houses one baby seat on top of the centre console and another ahead of the middle row; it also comes with two seating modes, Driving and Relaxing. Driving mode is the normal seating layout while relaxing mode that adjusts the seats into a more lounge-like position and the driving pedals slide into a recess to match the rest of the flat floor. Skoda claims the unique child seat location is the safest point in the car in the event of a crash.

Plans for tomorrow

Skoda dubs it the accelerated e-campaign which includes three new EVs by 2026 - a small car, compact SUV and 7-seater SUV (likely to be based on the Vision 7S concept).
