Jaguar’s new Type 00 concept features a radical design
First 4-door GT set to arrive in 2025
Based on a new EV-only platform
Estimated range rated at up to 770 km (WLTP)
Interior uses high-grade materials, including travertine and alabaster
British marque Jaguar has taken its first long-promised step towards electrification with the unveiling of the all-new Type 00 (pronounced Type Zero Zero). Earlier, a new brand identity was also revealed, marking Jaguar’s transition to an electric-only brand, with its new offerings coming to international markets in 2026. Notably, the first of many upcoming production cars will be an electric 4-door GT, with world premiere set for late 2025. However, the ultimate question remains whether this new identity and its vehicles can revive the 90-year old marque.
The all-electric Type 00 concept boasts a never-before-seen and radical design language. To put it simply, it is a fixed-roof coupe with a long bonnet, plus there is a slanting roofline that creates a fastback profile. The concept also features 23-inch alloy wheels, and was showcased in two vibrant colours: London Blue and Miami Pink.

Jaguar describes the design as "exuberant modernism”, defined by three key characteristics: exuberant, modernist, and compelling. Additionally, the concept is built on a new EV-only platform, called the Jaguar Electric Architecture.

The interior of the Type 00 concept is as bold and unconventional as the exterior, featuring 3 brass lines, including a 3.2 metre long “brass spine” that splits the pair of floating displays. Speaking of which, there are two ultra-wide screens, spanning almost the width of the cabin, as well as a rectangular-ish steering wheel.

Woven textiles and tactile wool blend, inspired by handwoven yarn are used for upholstery, sound bar, and flooring. The bucket seats feature a unique upholstery that does not show stitching. On the other hand, the centre console is made from Travertine Stone – a real stone veneer.

The details about the powertrain are scarce, but Jaguar’s new architecture, as claimed, would deliver a range of up to 770 km (WLTP). This suggests the EV will feature a big battery capacity that could be north of 100 kWh. A fast charger, details of which are not available yet, is claimed to provide a range of 321 km in just 15 minutes.
While the Type 00 is a concept at the moment showing off a striking design inside out, the production version may shift focus to practicality. At present, we do not know when Jaguar will introduce its new line-up of electric vehicles in India.

It is to be noted that this radical design philosophy of the new Type 00 concept and re-imagined brand identity have drawn considerable attention, or rather controversy, to Jaguar on social media. Netizens, car buffs, and experts are reacting to how the iconic brand has presented itself as it moves towards a new era. What is your reaction? Do let us know in the comments below.
