During the unveiling of the Kia Carens, the Korean carmaker remained tight-lipped about the upcoming MPV’s trims, dimensions, and other technical specifications. Now, just before bookings are set to begin on January 14, the Korean carmaker has dropped all the important details about the upcoming people-mover.
Here’s all the dope you need to know:
Trims, Seating Options, And Colours

The Carens will come in five broad trims: Premium, Prestige, Prestige Plus, Luxury and Luxury Plus. The first four will be offered only as a 7-seater while the top-spec Luxury Plus will get the option of a 6-seater and 7-seater. The Carens' second row will also have a segment-first electronic tumble function for easier access.
When it comes to colour choices, the Carens will get eight options: Imperial Blue, Moss Brown, Sparkling Silver, Intense Red, Aurora Black Pearl, Gravity Grey, Glacier White Pearl, and Clear White. The first three are new for a Kia. Surprisingly though, the MPV doesn’t get a single dual-tone option.
Dimensions

Kia was hush hush about the Carens’ dimensions, but the Korean carmaker stated the MPV will boast the longest wheelbase. Now, the dimensions are out and here’s a quick comparison with its platform sibling, the Alcazar:

Expected Price And Rivals

The Kia Carens is likely to be positioned as a seven-seater alternative to the Seltos and not an upgrade. We suspect it to be priced between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it in contention with the Maruti Suzuki XL6, Mahindra Marazzo, and select variants of the Hyundai Alcazar and Mahindra XUV700.
