After the recent success of the Kia Syros, the Korean automaker is set to launch another vehicle on our shores, the Kia Clavis. It will be a more premium version of the Carens, and both models will be on sale together.
Ahead of its May 8 launch, let’s take a look at the top 10 features that the Clavis will get over the Carens. While some of these features have been confirmed in the recent teaser, the other ones are also likely to be offered with the Clavis!
Here’s the list:
The Kia Clavis is expected to come with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The current model comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment with the top-spec models and a smaller 8-inch unit with the lower variants. The 12.3-inch infotainment will also come with wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The larger display will offer a more premium feel inside the cabin of the MPV.
Along with the larger infotainment, the Clavis will also come with a larger 12.3-inch driver’s display. It will be the same unit which is available with the Syros, and offers plenty of vital information to the driver. Moreover, it also makes the cabin look modern and appealing.
The current Carens comes equipped with a single-pane sunroof, while the Clavis is set to get a larger panoramic unit as confirmed by the teaser. This will be a feel good addition, and will also make the cabin feel more airy.
The Carens comes with a single zone climate control, while the Clavis will most probably be launched with dual zones of climate control. This will help the driver and co-driver set the temperature according to their requirements. The updated Seltos also comes with this feature, which makes us believe that Clavis will also get it.
The Clavis will likely get a second wireless phone charger, possibly in the second row. The MPV would be aimed towards the chauffeur-driven buyer, and adding this premium amenity in the second row would make sense. The Carens gets a single wireless phone charger in the front row.
Boss mode is yet another feature that is for the second row passenger. The Clavis will likely get this premium amenity which will free up leg room for the occupant behind the co-driver to stretch their legs after a tiring day of work. Moreover, powered functionality to adjust the co-driver seat will also add a layer of convenience if the shotgun seat is going to be used frequently.
A feature that we have already seen on the Seltos facelift and the Syros. The Clavis is expected to come with a level-2 ADAS suite of features with amenities such as auto emergency braking, lane keep assist and lane departure warning. ADAS will add an extra layer of safety to the car, providing the driver with necessary aids whenever needed. This feature was confirmed by the teaser, which revealed ADAS details on the driver display.
The recent teaser confirmed the presence of a 360-degree camera, as we could see a small camera at the front. The 360-degree camera will make parking the car a whole lot easier, and also help in understanding the exact judgment of the front and rear in tricky situations.

We expect the Clavis to not just get front and rear parking sensors, but also come with side parking sensors, a feature Kia also offers with the Syros SUV. Side parking sensors will further warn you of the obstacles that cannot be seen easily, making parking even more easy.
Another safety feature on the list is the electronic parking brake with auto hold. The Carens comes with a regular handbrake lever, while the Clavis could likely get an electronic parking brake with auto hold. This will not just make the lower centre console look neater, but also free up more space.
The Kia Clavis could have a starting price of Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be a premium alternative to the Maruti XL6, Ertiga, and Toyota Rumion while being a more affordable alternative to the Maruti Invicto, Toyota Innova Crysta and Innova Hycross.
With the Clavis, Kia will look to cater to buyers who want something more premium than the Carens. The extra features will also attract those who were initially swaying away from the Carens due to the lack of premium features.
