Expert's Opinion on Raider

Overview

More than just a commuter
More than just a commuter
  • The TVS Raider is a premium, sporty 125cc bike
  • It offers a great blend of practicality and performance
  • It’s also one of the most feature loaded bikes in the 125cc category
  • The Raider is the only bike in its segment that gets riding modes
  • In July 2026, there was a price hike in the entire range of Raider (between Rs 550 and Rs 1,320)

Design

Eye-catching, but polarising
Eye-catching, but polarising
  • Looks really sporty for a 125cc bike
  • Bug-eye LED headlights make it really stand out in the crowd
  • Comes in some really attractive colours
  • It also got a new Marvel’s Doctor Doom-inspired Spectral Green colour in July 2026
  • More mature riders might find the design too flashy

Performance & Mileage

Quick & Efficient
Quick & Efficient
  • Gets two riding modes - Power and Eco, which change power output
  • 11.2Nm of peak torque makes it the torquiest bike in the 125cc segment
  • One of the quickest accelerating 125cc bikes - 0-60kmph in just 6.23 seconds (as tested)
  • Raspy exhaust note sounds really nice on the move
  • Idle start-stop system gives it great mileage - 71.94kmpl in the city, 65.44kmpl on the highway (as tested)
  • Can cruise easily at 85-90kmph.
  • Engine feels out of breath at highway speeds
  • Engine is smooth at slow speeds, but gets buzzy past 75kmph

Handling

Nimble, yet sure-footed
Nimble, yet sure-footed
  • At 123-127kg (kerb weight varies depending upon the variant), it is decently light to manage, whether parking, or filtering through city traffic
  • Feels quite stable in corners once you get used to its eagerness to tip into corners
  • Combined braking system work well enough and feels predictable
  • Eagerness to tip into corners takes a little getting used to
  • Front brake bite is lacking, and has very little lever travel, making precise braking tricky
  • Braking performance is a bit below par - 60kmph to 0 in 24.23m (as tested)

Ride Quality

Rides like a dream
Rides like a dream
  • Suspension setup strikes a great balance between sporty and comfortable
  • Handles speed breakers and potholes without feeling jarring
  • 180mm ground clearance helps it clear even the tallest speed breakers with ease
  • Ride quality feels great even with a pillion on board, and does not wallow over bumpy roads
  • The bike now rolls on a wider 120-section rear tyre for the higher-end variants

Comfort & Storage

Great for solo and two-up
Great for solo and two-up
  • Riding position is a bit on the sportier side with slightly rear set footpegs and a low-set handlebar
  • Still feels comfortable for daily commutes
  • Low 780mm seat height allows even shorter riders to get their feet flat on the ground
  • Even the split seat variants have plenty of space to accommodate larger riders comfortably
  • Small storage space under rear seat is useful for storing knick-knacks
  • Split pillion seat is a bit tall to climb on, but feels comfortable when you're astride

Features

Tech-loaded
Tech-loaded
  • elevant informationA 27W fast chargingUSB-C port is a handy additionTop-end TFT DD variant gets full-colour TFT screen
  • Turn-by-turn navigation is a very useful feature to have
  • Both of the top-spec variants (TFT DD & SXC DD) feature a switchable traction control system, which makes it even more safe to ride than before
  • This also makes it the first 125 cc bike in India to get this feature
  • It also has an emergency brake warning feature, which alerts the rider behind when the brakes are applied suddenly
  • Voice command feature needs a headset (wired or Bluetooth) for your phone
  • Voice commands are finicky at best

Verdict

Is the TVS Raider 125 worth it?
Is the TVS Raider 125 worth it?
  • While the TVS Raider's price - Rs 84,460 for the base Drum variant to Rs 1,03,170 for the top TFT DD variant, is slightly on the higher side compared to its immediate competitors such as the Hero Xtreme 125R, it offers a great riding experience and is properly feature packed. It's a bike we'd certainly recommend for those seeking a commuter bike that just does more.

Raider Pros and Cons

Good Things
  • Peppy Performance
  • Gets single-channel ABS
  • Comes with GTT (Glide Through Tech)
Could be Better
  • Rear disc brake is only available in top-end variants
  • Has a small fuel tank
Expert's Conclusion

TVS Raider 125 brings the bike maker back on the map of 125cc motorcycles and it has opened well enough. The bike is fun to ride, packed with features, is priced on par with the competition, and feels premium. The bike is definitely one of the most well-rounded offerings in the 125cc category.
