When you step into a Maruti Arena showroom today, you’ll likely find yourself choosing between the newly launched Victoris and the ever-popular Brezza. The carmaker additionally retails the Grand Vitara in its premium Nexa showroom. While the Victoris and Grand Vitara are compact SUV siblings, the Brezza is the popular sub-compact SUV alternative. All of these three cars have some of their variants overlapping in the price bracket.
Hence, we compare the three, as knowing how they stack up against each other helps make the decision easier.
Here’s a look at the prices of the three Maruti SUVs:
|
Models |
Price (ex-showroom) |
|
Maruti Victoris |
Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh |
|
Maruti Grand Vitara |
Rs 11.42 lakh to Rs 20.68 lakh |
|
Maruti Brezza |
Rs 8.69 lakh to Rs 14.14 lakh |
Note: Maruti is yet to reveal revised prices for the Grand Vitara and Brezza after the revised GST rate cuts.
The Brezza, being in a lower segment, is the most affordable option, starting well under Rs 9 lakh, and going up to Rs 14.14 lakh (both ex-showroom). The Victoris sits in between but overlaps with the Grand Vitara, both stretching up to around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). This means buyers looking for something premium but not as costly as the Grand Vitara might gravitate towards the Victoris. Let’s see how they differ in terms of size next.

The Victoris and Grand Vitara share the same wheelbase and width. The Victoris stands slightly bigger in terms of length and height than the Grand Vitara. Meanwhile, the Brezza, being a sub-4 metre SUV, is notably smaller in all aspects.

The most interesting part of Victoris is that, in its CNG guise, it features an underbody cylinder setup in its CNG variants, thereby offering more boot space. That’s not the case with the Grand Vitara or the Brezza as the CNG tank sits in the trunk.

The Victoris brings a well-packaged feature set with equipment like ADAS, Alexa support, a larger infotainment screen, and premium touches such as 64-colour ambient lighting and ventilated seats. The Grand Vitara isn’t far behind, offering a panoramic sunroof and 360-degree camera, but it skips things like ambient lighting, fog lights and front parking sensors.

The Brezza keeps things straightforward with a single-pane sunroof, fabric seats, and analogue dials, yet it covers all the basics well. However, we wish Maruti had offered the Brezza with some more premium equipment such as ventilated front seats and a digital driver’s display.

Both the Victoris and Grand Vitara offer more variety in their engine lineup as they come with the strong hybrid option. Both the Victoris and Grand Vitara also get an all-wheel drive option with the petrol automatic powertrain. The Brezza, meanwhile, gets just the petrol and CNG options. Interestingly, the Victoris claims better fuel efficiency than both contenders in question and hence can appeal to buyers who do a lot of long-distance runs or prefer efficiency.

If you’re on a budget and need a city-friendly SUV, the Brezza is the easiest pick. If you’re looking for something more premium and bigger than the Brezza, the Grand Vitara offers you the right set of features and additional powertrain options. However, if you want a premium Maruti SUV, look no further than the Victoris.
It raises the bar in the same segment with a more youthful design and a longer feature list. It makes a strong case for itself against rivals like the Creta and Seltos, and that’s why it deserves serious consideration if you’re shopping in this space.
So, which SUV would you be picking if you had to choose between these three?
