The Tata Curvv, which will be offered in both internal combustion engine (ICE) and EV avatar, is set to be the newest entrant into the highly competitive compact SUV segment soon. With the Curvv, Tata is aiming to go up directly against the likes of the Maruti Grand Vitara and the Hyundai Creta facelift, but with a different take for the design (coupe-like styling). That said, it is promising to offer more than just design differences to compete fiercely with its prime rivals. Let us take a look at how the Curvv fares against its rivals in this report, at least on paper.

The Tata Curvv is neither the longest nor the shortest amongst the trio, it sits between the Grand Vitara and the Creta.
However it is the shortest; 5 mm less than the Creta and 15 mm less than the Grand Vitara.
That said, the Curvv has the widest cabin on offer compared to the other two SUVs here.
The Creta also has the longest wheelbase here, closely followed by the Maruti SUV.

Tata will introduce the Curvv with both petrol and diesel engines, making it the only other SUV in the segment to get a diesel option after the Hyundai Creta-Kia Seltos duo. We are expecting the Tata Curvv to get both manual and automatic transmission options.
Meanwhile, the Maruti Grand Vitara is offered with a mild hybrid, strong hybrid, and a CNG option as well. Customers can choose from 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic options on the former two, while the CNG engine gets only the 5-speed manual gearbox option.
The Hyundai Creta is offered with three engines - an NA petrol, a turbo petrol and a diesel. Both the NA petrol and the diesel are offered with a 6-speed manual as well as automatic gearbox options (CVT for NA petrol and 6-speed AT for diesel) while the turbo petrol gets the 7-speed dual clutch gearbox.

Tata is expected to price the Curvv between Rs 10.50-17 lakh (ex-showroom) range. The Maruti Grand Vitara is priced from Rs 10.80-19.99 lakh, while the Hyundai Creta has an introductory price between Rs 11-20.15 lakh (all prices ex-showroom). This means, Tata could price the Curvv aggressively to strongly take on the competition or even undercut it.
