Tata Motors has revealed the close-to-production version of the Curvv at the Bharat Mobility motor show. It was showcased with a 1.5-litre diesel engine which, incidentally, will be the only other car in its segment, after the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, to get the option of an oil-burner. And in this report, we’ll be taking a brief look at how the specification of the Curvv’s diesel engine fares against its Korean rivals.

The Tata Curvv will get the 1.5-litre diesel engine from the Nexon sub-4 metre SUV. It belts out 115 PS and 260 Nm, and will be paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. We also expect this engine to be offered with an automatic transmission as well. Here’s a look at how these specs compare with the Creta and Seltos:

While the Seltos and Creta put out 1 PS more than the Curvv, the Tata SUV-coupe is 10 Nm torquier than its rivals.
Right now, Tata has confirmed this engine will be paired with a manual transmission. However, we expect an automatic transmission to be on offer as well.
The Kia Seltos diesel, which offers you the most transmission options, gets a 6-speed clutchless manual transmission, which is basically a stick shifter without a physical clutch pedal, the only one in its segment to get this setup.

As reported earlier, the Tata Curvv will go on sale as an EV first, followed by the ICE version. You can check out when Tata plans to launch the Curvv here and for more details about the SUV-coupe, check out our in-depth unveiling story. As for prices, the Curvv ICE is expected to have a starting price of around Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
Apart from the aforementioned rivals, the Curvv will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, and MG Astor.
