Yamaha, the two-wheeler virtuoso, will soon come out with high-output electric motors for four-wheelers. The Japanese manufacturer has already begun making the prototypes and will start accepting orders from this month.

With power figures ranging between 48PS and 272PS, these motors can be used for automobiles and other mobility solutions. But the highlight is the brand’s 476PS 800V electric motor.

Known for its compact size, the electric motor integrates the gear and inverter into one unit while also allowing manufacturers to use more than one unit in a vehicle. Yamaha will fall back on its production and technological expertise to make electric motors for both two-wheelers and four-wheelers.

The company will showcase its 476PS electric motor and a few prototypes at the 2021 Automotive Engineering Exposition in Yokohama, Japan. So, if you’re a budding EV manufacturer and looking to outsource the powertrain, you might want to be there.
