Yamaha India has finally updated the FZS-Fi with a rear disc brake option. The new Yamaha FZS-Fi with rear disc brake has been priced at Rs 86,042 (ex-showroom Delhi). It comes fitted with a 220mm dia single rear disc brake at the rear while the standard 282mm dia disc brake does duty at front. The Japanese bikemaker also introduced a new blue colour shade, called “Armada Blue,” for its popular 150cc offering. Apart from the new blue shade, the motorcycle also features revised graphics with “FZ” logo on the tank shrouds.

Incidentally, the Yamaha FZ series has also completed 10 years in the Indian market and it still remains the most popular motorcycle for Yamaha in India. The updated version of the FZS with fuel injection was launched in 2014 in India, christened as the Version 2.0.

Speaking on the launch, Roy Kurian, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales, said, “The legacy of Yamaha’s FZ series in India is all about the inheritance of a unique motorcycling passion. Immensely popular with Indian bikers all the way through almost 10 years from the day it was launched in India, and winning over a million hearts, it was crowned to become the ‘lord of the streets’ by the collective culture of the country’s motorcycling. While its best seller features like build and appearance, superior engine technology, fuel mileage and suspension are retained, the new additions will excite the present and new customers.”

Powering the FZS-Fi is a 149cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder motor delivering 13.1PS at 8,000rpm and 12.8Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed gearbox. Talking about competition, the Yamaha FZS-Fi rivals the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer and the Honda CB Hornet 160
