Volvo’s world introduction to its futuristic looking Universal Concept at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year was unlike anything Volvo had ever attempted with the styling of its current generation cars, especially its large sedans. However, with the Universal Concept it brought forth a design that will pretty much define the Volvo saloon of the modern era, characterized by its harmonious blend of pen ultimate technology, driver focused interior design, and yet a look that does not disconnect from the traditional Volvo automobile design fascia.
At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Swedish car maker set the stage with yet another concept that has been refined and re-worked upon based on the feedback the company’s received on the earlier Concept Universe model. Through survey’s and by closely monitoring social media commentary, Volvo has left no stone unturned in optimizing this new design to satisfy the needs of its future executive sedan customers globally.
While, the Universal Concept was an absolutely fresh sketch to begin with, the Concept You as its been re-named now offers a far more luxurious and intuitive feel. The company has collected global feedback on Concept Universe, both through surveys and by closely monitoring social media comments.
With a more daring coupe -like profile than the Concept Universe, the Concept now reflects how people's perception of luxury is moving beyond the traditional perspective.
The "Designed Around You" strategy has become the guiding principle for Volvo's future designs, and in the Concept You this becomes very apparent. Intuitive smart pad technology makes the driver totally connected, and completely in control.

Concept You – Touch-Screen Interface Options!
The Concept You multimedia information display systems consist of four main areas; a digital Driver Information Monitor (DIM), a head-up display on the windscreen, a touch-screen in the upper part of the centre console and a touch-screen between the two individual rear seats.
The touch-screen in the upper part of the centre console remains in sleep mode until the driver looks at it. A hidden infrared camera registers the eye movements and information is displayed on the screen.
The driver can "flip" data from the central touch-screen to the head-up display and can exchange data with the rear passengers. Certain functions, such as surfing the Web, are only accessible from the passenger side while the car is rolling.

Concept You - Design and Comfort Upgrades!
Volvo Car Corporation has partnered with several other famous brands in order to create a genuine feeling of luxury with the right Scandinavian touch. Exclusive Italian fabric and designs from Swedish fashion houses will dress the interiors of this new and improved concept. Finished in a light blue, liquid metal paint from DuPont, the Concept You flaunts a far more pristine exterior look, and up front, the Concept You grille, now has a more classic appearance than the Concept Universe.
As put by Stefan Jacoby, President and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, "The Concept You gives a good indication of what you can expect from our next large sedan. The blend of contemporary Scandinavian design, exquisite craftsmanship and intuitive technology will appeal to luxury car buyers all over the world."
