While quality and superior technology are key factors for any sort of success in the automotive business, at the end of the day it’s the numbers that do all the talking, and ultimately decide the longtivity of your production operations.
Working out of one of the largest modern car manufacturing plants in the country, the Volkswagen Group came to India ambitious as ever, believing that their globally successful automobiles deserved a righful place in the Indian market. And in just over 2 years since walking into the Indian automobile scenario, Volkswagen has now rolled-out its 100,000th car at its mammoth 3,800 crore Chakan manufacturing plant near Pune.
Doubling its initial 50,000 car production milestone within just five months, Volkswagen’s Vento became the 100,000th car to be rolled out in the presence of honorable Members of Parliament, media, suppliers, members of the Board of Directors and other employees, all of whom were present at the factory to show their appreciation for Volkswagen on achieving this feat.
Supriya Sule, Honorable Member of the Parliament, who graced the occasion with her presence praised Volkswagen for its achievement, and said “I would like to congratulate Volkswagen India for the roll out of the 100,000th car from their Chakan plant. I draw satisfaction that our government policies have been able to attract auto majors which helped in making Maharashtra a vibrant auto destination. This also provides ample employment opportunities.”
Also present, Volkswagen Group Chief Representative India and President & Managing Director, Volkswagen India Private Limited Dr. Chacko said, “This accomplishment of 100,000 cars production is a testimony of customers’ confidence in our people, technology, and design innovations. It is indeed a moment of pride and satisfaction for all of us at Volkswagen on achieving this milestone in such a short span of time.”
With a capacity of 130,000 cars, Volkwagen’s Chakan Plant currently produces the Volkswagen Polo, the Volkswagen Vento and the Skoda Fabia.
